#PistaHands ParadeChallenge
As we emerge from the pandemic, we want to signal hope and optimism with communities around the world. Through this video, we also hope to uplift our community and show our solidarity against the surge of discrimination and hate.
Solidarity means celebrating our differences, our culture, and our ethnic backgrounds. We can fight against racism and Asian hate by sharing and celebrating our heritage and lived history.
This year’s Virtual Parade will be taking a similar form of a produced video challenge we did last year. Start the video by showing your right palm to the camera. On your palm, write down the name of a Filipino cultural symbol or item that you would like to feature. Then, we invite you and your group to showcase your creative spirit by showcasing a Filipino tradition, dance, attire, food, or any type of cultural expression. Have fun and show off your Pinoy pride! End the video by showing your other palm to the camera. On that palm write “Stop Asian Hate.”
Our Video Editing Team will then take your entry and edit them with all other entries creating one musically filled video which will be streamed live to the public on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11 am Pacific Time.
These types of video challenges have been seen on YouTube and the very popular TikTok platforms and we are putting our own Pistahan twist into them. Together with the FAAE and the global Filipino community, join us as we continue to celebrate the Filipino community and display our cultural pride.
