The 30th annual Pistahan Parade and Festival, a celebration of Filipino community, culture and cuisine, takes place on August 12-13, 2023. The Grand Parade kicks off the festivities on Saturday, August 12 at 11am with elaborate floats, cultural dance groups, marching bands and colorful contingents marching up Market St from Civic Center to 4th Street. The 2-day outdoor festival at the Yerba Buena Gardens is a showcase of world-class entertainment highlighting contemporary and traditional music, dance and performances.

The Pistahan offers products unique to the Philippines, including books, jewelry, apparel, home decor and unique products created from mother of pearl, bamboo, coconut, mahogany, pineapple fiber and more. And of course, stay for the delicious Filipino food – pancit, lumpia, lechon, adobo, BBQ, halo-halo and other regional specialties! In addition, the festival has organized 6 themed interactive pavilions celebrating Philippine culture and traditions: Art, Culinary, Dance, Sports, Health, and Leadership for an immersive and authentic cultural experience. On Saturday, the Pistahan Parade will feature elaborate floats, marching bands and colorful contingents as it marches up Market from Civic Center to 4th St. The 2-day Festival will include live entertainment, popular balut eating contest, delicious Filipino cuisine, cultural exhibits, hands-on workshops for kids and adults. 11am-5pm. www.Pistahan.net

Dear Community, I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding the 19th Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration, originally scheduled at San Francisco City Hall's Rotunda on Thursday, October 5. We find it necessary to postpone the event due to unforeseen circumstances. The decision to reschedule is out of respect for the memorial services and the celebration of life that will take place at City Hall on Thursday, October 5 for U.S. Senator and former San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein. We recognize Senator Feinstein's significant impacts on shaping the history of our beloved city and her unwavering support for the Filipino community. In joining the nation to honor her legacy, it is appropriate to adjust our plans to allow for the proper remembrance and tribute. The new date for the 19th Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration is now set for Thursday, October 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to join us on this rescheduled date as we come together to celebrate our shared heritage and the contributions of the Filipino community to the rich tapestry of San Francisco.
