Dear Community, I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding the 19th Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration, originally scheduled at San Francisco City Hall's Rotunda on Thursday, October 5. We find it necessary to postpone the event due to unforeseen circumstances. The decision to reschedule is out of respect for the memorial services and the celebration of life that will take place at City Hall on Thursday, October 5 for U.S. Senator and former San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein. We recognize Senator Feinstein's significant impacts on shaping the history of our beloved city and her unwavering support for the Filipino community. In joining the nation to honor her legacy, it is appropriate to adjust our plans to allow for the proper remembrance and tribute. The new date for the 19th Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration is now set for Thursday, October 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to join us on this rescheduled date as we come together to celebrate our shared heritage and the contributions of the Filipino community to the rich tapestry of San Francisco. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during these challenging times. Please mark your calendar with the new date, and we look forward to your continued support as we honor Senator Dianne Feinstein and celebrate the vibrant history of Filipino Americans. Show your Filipino and Giants pride by donning your commemorative "barong-style" t-shirt, designed by Taipan Lucero (must have special event voucher). Come early to enjoy pregame festivities in celebration of Filipino culture and community, featuring Mabuhay Folkloric Society at O'Doule Plaza and students of Ruth Asawa SOTA at Willie Mays Plaza. Bay Area native, SARINA BOLDEN will throw the Ceremonial First Pitch, and Mayor London Breed will present a proclamation declaring August 28, 2023, “Sarina Bolden Day in San Francisco." Born and raised in Santa Clara, Bolden scored the first-ever goal for the Philippines in the 2023 Women’s World Cup and led her team to a 1-0 victory over New Zealand on July 25.
