PREVIEW: Pistahan Sunday Funday

Day two of the outdoor event will continue to feature cultural performances, world-class entertainment, food trucks, artisan merchandise, and hands-on and authentic cultural experiences in six themed pavilions: Art, Culinary, Dance, Health, Innovation, and Sports. Special guests scheduled to join the pavilion presentations include:

Art Pavilion:

  • CalligraFilipino Exhibit – by Taipan Lucero (Manila, Philippines)

  • Surreal Art Exhibit – by Nonie Cruzado (Boulder, Colorado)

  • The Hinabi Project: Textiles from the Cordilleras and Northern Luzon

  • Filipino American Nurses Memorial Panels – by O.M. France Viana (San Francisco)

 

Culinary Pavilion:

  • Chef Martin Yan cooks Adobo – Yan Can Cook (San Francisco, CA)

  • Chef Charleen Caabay makes Kinilaw – Winner of TV show Chopped (Oakland, CA)

  • Balut Eating Contest – sign-up to join the competition onsite!

 

Dance Pavilion:

  • Philippine Folk Dance Workshop: Bakya and La Jota Moncadeña – hosted by Mabuhay Folkloric Society

  • Peformance and Demo on Balisong – hosted by Ron Cariño, Kultura ng Balisong

The Filipino American Arts Exposition (FAAE) is excited to announce its 29th annual Pistahan Parade and Festival with in-person festivities on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 from 11 am – 5 pm PT at the Yerba Buena Gardens, and via livestream on Facebook and YouTube. As we emerge from the pandemic, this year’s festival theme is “Homecoming: Reconnect with Our Roots and Community.”

Participate in the 29th Annual Pistahan Parade and Festival!

The 29th annual Pistahan Parade and Festival returns with the theme of “Homecoming: Reconnect with Our Roots and Community” on Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco. The Pistahan Parade will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
