#PistahanParadeChallenge

This year’s Pistahan Parade will be taking a new form of a produced video challenge that has you and/or your group receiving our Pistahan logo, showcasing your creative spirit by showing off your iconic Filipino American item or doing an energetic dance and then passing the logo on. 

These types of video challenges have been seen on YouTube and the very popular TikTok platforms and we are putting our own Pistahan twist into them. 

Our Video Editing Team will then take your entry and edit them with all other entries creating one musically filled video which will be streamed live to the public on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11 am Pacific Time.

Together with the FAAE and the greater San Francisco community, join us as we continue to celebrate the Filipino community and display our cultural pride. The deadline to submit your entry is on Friday, July 31.

Now more than ever, we want to bring positive vibes and a smile to those who attend our event year after year, and with your participation, we can create a video for people to enjoy.

all you need to do are these 5 things listed below To take on the #PistahanParadeChallenge:

  1. Watch the Tutorial Video:

  2. Review the “Video Entry Tips” and “Common Questions & Answers”

  3. Print out the Pistahan logo

  4. Create your maximum 30-second video
    (Friendly reminder to record in horizontal format and paSs the PISTAHAN logo from your left to YOUR right)

  5. Fill out the registration form
    (deadline is Friday, July 31)

 

And that’s it! We will email you after reviewing your video entry if any revisions need to made. Feel free to show off your creative side and showcase your Filipino pride! 

As with our past parades, it has been our tradition to give out awards to: Best Spirit, Best Performance, Best Dressed, Best Spectacle and Best Overall. We will have our panel of judges review entries and have the winners announced live during the livestream on August 8.

Winners will be contacted shortly thereafter. We look forward to your participation in this year’s event.

Dear Community, I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding the 19th Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration, originally scheduled at San Francisco City Hall's Rotunda on Thursday, October 5. We find it necessary to postpone the event due to unforeseen circumstances. The decision to reschedule is out of respect for the memorial services and the celebration of life that will take place at City Hall on Thursday, October 5 for U.S. Senator and former San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein. We recognize Senator Feinstein's significant impacts on shaping the history of our beloved city and her unwavering support for the Filipino community. In joining the nation to honor her legacy, it is appropriate to adjust our plans to allow for the proper remembrance and tribute. The new date for the 19th Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration is now set for Thursday, October 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to join us on this rescheduled date as we come together to celebrate our shared heritage and the contributions of the Filipino community to the rich tapestry of San Francisco.
