SALUTE TO THE CLASS OF 2020
Pistahan Virtual Parade and Festival is collaborating with the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, in line with the Spark* Connect* Empower* Movement, in giving tribute to the Filipino American graduates of 2020. We hope to honor the Filipino American graduates who were not be able to experience the joy and excitement of traditional commencement exercises, with their families and friends due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pistahan calls on Filipino American graduates of 2020 (Kindergarten to Post-grad) to send two (2) graduation photos and their names to the link below to be part of the honorees in the video project, earlier spearheaded by the Consulate.

In 1968, a group of predominantly Filipino elders in San Francisco launched a battle to protect their home from eviction. Called the International Hotel, their home ended up in the crossroads of a city prioritizing the βManhattanizationβ of its downtown area. Their fight for their neighborhood would evolve into a nearly decade-long protest with thousands of supporters and become a symbol of the campaign for affordable housing for decades to come.
FLOAT is Pixarβs first animated short film featuring Filipino lead characters, directed and written by Bobby Rubio in his directorial debut. At the recent Pistahan Festival, Bobby shared with Franco Finn (Bay Area's Hypeman & Most West Coast Host from Alaska Airlines) about the makings and inspirations behind FLOAT. As the Golden State Warriorsβ Hype Man, Franco is the first Filipino and only one in the NBA as a hype man for the last 20 years.

Patricio Ginelsa, director and writer of cult hit LUMPIA β everyoneβs favorite Filipino egg roll action-packed film β gave a sneak peek of the LUMPIA sequel in an exclusive only for Pistahan! βPistahan has always been there for us,β says Patricio. βThey were there for us seven years ago back in 2013 when Pistahan SF hosted our 10th anniversary screening of the original LUMPIA movie. Thatβs where we launched our (LUMPIA 2)βs Kickstarter campaign and greenlit and funded this movie.β
